As we grow up in the faith, we start to move toward a more interdependent stage. Just as children learn to obey their parents and take responsibility for caring for and serving others, Spiritual Children begin to learn and obey the commands of Jesus and take more responsibility for the care and welfare of those younger in the faith. At this stage, it’s important to practice obedience to Jesus’s commands and engaging in the many “One another’s” that we find in the Bible (i.e. pray for one another, forgive one another, bear one another’s burdens, rejoice with one another, weep with one another, etc…). It’s also important to practice serving those in your spiritual family. At this stage, your ongoing growth requires awareness and regular engagement with the many spiritual practices that cultivate greater connection to and transformation by Jesus such as Bible reading, prayer, solitude, silence, fasting, etc.
