This represents the beginning phase of one’s spiritual journey in following Jesus. Like a physical newborn, a Spiritual Infant needs to regularly be fed spiritual food which comes in the form of God’s Word, the Bible, and be surrounded by people older in the faith. At this stage, it’s best to receive regular Bible teaching from those who are more mature in the faith. It’s also important to find others who are ahead of you in the journey to guide you as you read the Bible together. You need to cultivate the practice of confession, which is stating out loud to God and others what is going on inside of you. During this stage, you need to be in community with others who are more mature than you to help you become established in your faith journey through baptism, learning your new identity in Christ, and engaging in community life together.
